I live in Turkey and they don't have Cosmelan treatments here so i was thinking if its possible to buy the Treatment online and have a dermatologist over here administer the Mask here...Or is there something special that the doctor needs to do?
We would suggest that you purchase the product through the physician and practice that you are considering for treatment. Most practices would not allow you to bring your own product inasmuch as one should understand that there is value in the service being offered which includes the product. As a patient, you are investing in a treatment plan and the value of this is more than just the price of Cosmelan.
I am looking for information regarding melasma and Cosmelan. What are the results like? Thanks!
It is important to understand that no single treatment will work for everyone. We would love to be able to predict which of our patients will respond to Cosmelan and which to our other topical programs. Unfortunately we cannot. We have found that Cosmelan works well for about 50% - 70% of our patients. We do have higher response rates for our other topical programs, but Cosmelan is a good option for many Melasma patients.
As was stated by another practitioner, Melasma is a condition that is not cured, but rather managed. Those patients seeking a one time fix will be disappointed regardless of which treatment option they choose.
i'd like to try cosmelan for mild melasma before investing in laser treatment, but want to know how much it costs, and if you need more than one treatment?
We've seen the cost of Cosmelan vary from approximately $500 - $1,000, but we've also seen that the service being sold is very different. The manufacturer's recommended protocol for Cosmelan involves two (2) in office masks, one for the full face and then another "touch up" to address areas that still have pigmentation approximately 1 month after the first mask. In addition, there is a Cosmelan II follow up product that is to be used at home.
Depending on whether the practitioner provides the second mask and the at home care product in the cost or not will affect the price. We have found that when both masks and the home care product are provided (as should be done for best results) that the price is on the higher side of the range quoted and when these things are not provided, it is the lower side of the range.
Make sure you are comparing apples to apples and that whoever is doing your procedure is taking before and after pictures and providing with a follow up visit to monitor progress. Too many of our patients have used this product at other facilities with disappointing results because they were not monitored for compliance, given a second mask, given the take home product, etc.
