I had a chemical peel (Jessner with 25% TCA) on my neck and chest a week ago. It completely peeled but left two very red and sensitive spots on each side of my neck. Even though I have continued to keep the skin moisturized the red spots are crusting again. Is this normal for skin to peel twice in one session?
A 25% TCA peel is quite aggressive. Please follow up with either a board certified facial plastic surgeon, dermatologist, or office which performed the peel for an in person evaluation of your situation.
I had a chemical peel yesterday and I know my face should exfoliate. What kind of facial wash would be appropriate? What about lotions afterwards? Do they need to have more gentle ingredients or keep this drying process going? I have products of both types but have no idea what to use.
You need to hydrate your face with thick moisturizers and stay away from the sun. Avoid any exfoliators or anything abrasive that would aggravate your skin.
I have enlarged/scarred pores on my cheeks and on my nose. I also have a few very, very, shallow acne scars. I would love to find an alternative to laser treatments or microdermabrasion (I am prone to broken blood vessels) to help fix some of these issues. Would a series of chemical peels do the trick? Or something else?
Chemical Peels will not stimulate collagen, however, they are beneficial for superficial exfoliation. Lasers are a good option for both scarring and pore size as they are using thermal energy to stimulate collagen production. There is also laser technology that can aid in facial redness.
