Breast Implant Rotation

It seams both my left and right are rotating,iv had anatomic implants. My sergeon says i might have to have round ones, but will i have to pay for this? i have emailed to ask but had no reply.

A: Problem with anatomic shaped implants

That is a known risk of having anatomic (or tear drop shaped) implants-They can rotate. If round implants rotate it does not affect the shape. When a shaped anatomic implant rotates, the breast  becomes distorted. It’s hard to get a good sense of what is going on from  your photos. If it’s simply a rotation issue, they could be repositioned (and pockets altered as needed) or you could switch to round implants. Each surgeon has different policies on the cost of revisional procedures. Some will waive a surgeons fee, and charge only the cost of implants, OR, and anesthesia. One place to look is your preoperative paperwork. Usually the policies will be stated in your paperwork.  I would definitely discuss your concerns with your surgeon and/or his or her staff. If email did not get a response, you should call the office. Good luck!

Can You Feel Breast Implants While Feeling Your Breast?

I was told by someone that during intimacy if someone was feeling the breast, they would be able to feel the breast implant shell while feeling under the breast. Is this true?

A: Can you feel an implant in the breast

Yes, it is possible to feel for implants when feeling the breasts. How obvious or noticeable the implants are depends on how much breast tissue you have over the implant, where the implant was placed (under the muscle or over), how thin the skin is, the size of the implants, whether the implants are silicone or saline filled, where one is feeling (easier to feel it along the borders), and the experience of the “examiner”. In patients with a good amount of breast tissue, and silicone implants placed under the muscle, the feel of the implant is not obvious. On the other hand, in very thin patients with little breast tissue, it is easier to feel the implants, especially at the borders, and especially with saline implants. It really varies from person to person how noticeable the implant is to the touch.

I Had Breast Implants 10 Mnths Ago, There are Now 2 Dents Underneath my Nipple, What is This?

I m booked for a lift will this help?

Additional Information Added 1/20/12

I had a crease incision and noticed the dents before surgery, but were located directly beneath nipple, now are underneath. Worse when laying down.

A: Scarring after implants

Did you have the implants placed through a peri-areolar incision? It’s difficult to comment without more information. It sounds like the areola is being pulled in by scarring if it looks dented in. There are ways to improve this surgically. A lift would not automatically address this, but it can be corrected at the same time as your lift. Make sure you discuss this with your surgeon beforehand, so that he or she can not only correct it, but also use techniques to try to prevent it from happening again in the future.
