Can Artefill be used for temples? Is this product risky for this area? I have no fat left in my temples. I also have Fibromyalgia and Psoriasis.
One of the areas to use artefill is in the temples. The key to this and any other filler is to know the depth of injection, and how to layer it out well. This is a great place for its use. If you have lost some of your own tissue, it isn't likely to come back, so a more permanent filler could be helpful.
I am not sure if anyone would say that it is not a problem to use with fibromyalgia as there are many unknowns with what causes this process. I don't think it is at all a problem for the psoriasis however.
Hi! I'm really confused about Artefill haha. I've read that artefill is a permanent filler, yet it last for 5-10 years. I also read another question on this site where a patient was complaining about his/her artefill disappearing in a month. The doctors said that the collagen gets absorbed, but does the absorption really make it go away that much? I'm looking to get artefill injections for my nose (already had radiesse before and liked it!) Please lemme know, thanks!
Artefill's particles do not get degraded by the body so they will always be there after you put them in. You may require more though as your face ages and more volume is lost. The reason the company says "5 years" is because that is the length of the studies that were used for FDA approval so that is all they can legally claim. In reality, it is permanent.
The collagen matrix that is the carrier gel for the Artefill particles dissolves in 2-3 months and the initially swelling disappears in 1-4 weeks. Your own body will build natural collagen around the Artefill particles over the first 3 months so there may be a bit of lag time between the 2nd and 3rd month where the results might not look as good.
Because this is a permanent/long lasting product, a smart physician will undercorrect the first time and touch up on a future visit, it is much safer than possibly overcorrecting and having the results look unnatural.
I heard Artefill is out of the picture, at least in the United States, is this true?
I have to agree with Dr. Pearson (but not with Dr. Rand.) Artefill has always been a safe, FDA approved product and was only unavailable for a short time due to bankruptcy issues by its previous company Artes. Suneva Medical, its new company, is doing a much better job.
