Is 18 Too Young for a Breast Augmentation Consultation?
I have wanted implants ever since my breasts stopped growing in my early teens. I have looked at many before and after photos and I believe I may have hypomastia. I have recently turned 18 and believe I am ready for this surgery. My parent is supportive of whatever decision I make but as I will be the one paying for this surgery it is ultimately my choice. I have the money and ability to do this now. My question is are doctors hesitant to discuss/perform breast augmentation on someone my age?
A: 18 yo is fine.I would have hesitation if younger and would discuss at length with the family to understand the reasons, ect. A 18 year old in today's society is able to make her own choices and consent for herself. The FDA allows only saline breast implants for women under 22 yo. I do encourage that you involve your parents as much as possible and you will be responsible for your decisions.
Is the Method of Fixation Different for a Facelift?
where the SMAS is elevated by plication (folding) rather than imbrication (trimming)? I the tissue fixed onto itself or into the bone? There seems to be a difference of opinion regarding technique ad longevity; and, this is very important to a patient! I know everyone's skin differs, but photos are not reliable since every doctor takes them at a different phase of recovery.
A: SMAS- PlicationsThis a very good question. The smas is usually sewn to itself. This is a very strong deep structure that maintains strength over time. Plastic surgeons may use permanent or temporary sutures to accomplish this task.
Do I Really Need Mastopexy on Top of Different Size Implants For Asymmetry? (photo)
Hello, i have been to one surgeon who has suggested me to have a breast augmentation with mastopexy on my right breast, because of the position of my nipple, She says if i don't get it done, the assymetry will still be there with two different size implants, and it won't look nice and i won't like the result. i was against the mastopexy (which she plans to do around the aerola) because i am scared of having scars...she suggested 150-200cc but i think i am going for 200-300cc would it be too big?
A: NoYour question, Is a breast lift really needed? The answer is no. However, you will still have the nipple asymmetry which will change minimally. The breast volume can be closely matched.
You could have implants only by a surgeon who in comfortable doing so and a periareolar lift only if required at a later date. Incisions are forever and i understand you situation.
