Had smartlipo on chin area only 10 days ago. Been taking Arnica Montana starting 2 days before surgery, drinking lots of water, & exercising. Chin is bigger then before surgery, seems to remain or get a little bigger every day. Wore compression garment first 2 days, then 12 hours per day after. Garment too big, so I wore it a bit tighter because it didn't feel supportive. Could I have caused scar tissue by wearing it too tight? Is it okay to still wear it? Do my symptoms sound concerning?
Some swelling is normal but if it is excessive, it could be caused by several things such as bleeding or more likely by a seroma, a collection of fluid caused more frequently with a laser liposuction like SmartLipo. In either case, you should go back and see your plastic surgeon. It usually can be drained quite easily.
I'm interested in getting Smart Lipo for the mons pubis area, but this is a very delicate area, and I was wondering, are there any possible major complications that may occur after the procedure? Would the fat return after surgery? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I almost always incorporate SmartLipo with Traditional Lipo in the Mons or pubic fat pad. I have seen firmness which transiently appears in the fatty layer after this procedure, but external ultrasound treatments soften this almost immediately. I have seen some really nice improvement in contour when this area is treated along with abdominoplasty or abdominal liposuction. Nerve damage has never been an issue.
It's uncomfortable to wear at work, so I took off my compression garmet this morning and plan on putting it back on. Will not wearing it for a few hours after 11 days affect my results? My swelling isn't too bad now and I can see results already. Thanks
Some people heal quickly and don't swell much, others take longer. There is no real standard. My own routine is as follows:
- Starting at 10 days to two weeks, patients begin to go without the garment for an hour or two a day at first. If it is too early, then swelling occurs that can take up to the next day to appear, so move ahead slowly.
- If there is an increase in swelling, then you are not ready to start weaning from the garment. WAIT.
- If no swelling is noted, continue with 1 to 2 hours out of the garment for 3 days. Then double the amount of time out of the garment. The same rules as above apply.
- I suggest making a change no more often than every 3 days. That way your body becomes accustomed to the lack of compression.
