How Long Should I Stop Using Hydroquinone Before Getting a Photofacial?

How Long Should I Stop Using Hydroquinone Before Getting a Photofacial?

A: continue your hydroquinone before and after your photofacial

It is good to continue your hydroquinone right up to and after your photofacial.  It will improve your results and minimize the chance of any post-inflammatory pigmentation problems after your photofacial.

I Had a Photo-facial and my Pigmentation is Not Turning Dark Why?

I am not seeing any difference. I have had a photo-facial before and everything turned dark and within 2 weeks my skin looked beautiful. I am on Re-tin A, will this make a difference for the treatment not working? She used a numbing cream so I never felt like my skin was sunburned either.

A: Fotofacial works if you are using Retin-A

It sounds like the settings just weren't high enough for you.   That happens sometimes.  It is best to go right back in the next week or so after this happens, so you can show your doctor that nothing happened.

If I do the treatment to one of my patients, and nothing happens, I repeat the treatment for no additional charge.

It's great that you are using Retin-A, that is the best topical anti-aging treatment.  That's not why the Fotofacial didn't work.

I think you didn't feel "sunburned" because the settings weren't high enough for you.

Best of luck.  You have beautiful skin!  Your mild hyperpigmentation could easily be addressed with another Fotofacial, Obagi CRX products, and/or a couple of mild chemical peels.

Is It Safe to Have PhotoFacial on Healing Facial Scars?

Three weeks ago, I had enlarged sebaceous glands cauterized. The resulting scabs have fallen off, some naturally and many others prematurely by accident. Now I have several atrophic, reddish scars that are still healing. I would like to get a photo facial to remove general redness in my face. Would an IPL interrupt the healing process of my scars and thereby cause permanent scarring? Should I keep the scars moist (antibiotics gel) or dry? As you can imagine, I very worried. Thank you!!!

A: Ointment and sun avoidance is all you should do

Keep the pink areas moist with antibiotic ointment (e.g. polysporin) 3x/day and don't get any sun on the area.

Keeping ointment on will promote faster healing.  Sun avoidance will prevent the red areas from healing brownish.

I would avoid IPL until this is healed on it's own.  IPL won't help the redness, the redness will resolve with time.
