Can Jowls Come Back After a Lower Face/neck Lift?

Is it true that jowls can reappear just a few years after a lower face/neck lift? i know a few women to whom this has happened. They are older than I am, and had more jowling to begin with. I am not yet 50 with very little jowling and neck skin. Can I hope for a longer lasting result?

A: Jowls After a Lower Face/Neck Lift

It is not uncommon to have some jowling after a lower facelift.  However,  this generally does not happen for many years after your surgery. There are many factors to consider. If you have a facelift that mainly addresses the skin  with no muscle tightening, you probably will see jowling earlier. It is better to have a facelift that takes care of the excess skin and tightens the muscles.

How Long Does It Take for Hair to Grow Back Infront of Ears I Have Lost All Y Hair

i had a lower face lift one month ago and i have bald patches infront of my ears have lost my side berns how long will it take to grow back if it will

A: Hair regrowth after male Facelift I see patients from other surgeons who come in and have hair loss in front and above the ears this is typical with bad incision placement where they have removed the natural hairline area and reshifted the flaps altering and elevating the natural hairline. This is more commonly seen in women and is a tell tale sign of a bad facelift. It is important to place the incision in the ear and follow in front of the hairline upward so you keep the natural appearance of each patients hair growth. If your case is simply hair regrowth that is temporarily not growing due to the surgery then the hair follicles should return in the next growth cycle. Which would mean you should see hair growth coming in for the next three to six months. I would go in and see your surgeon and discuss your concerns so that he/she may be able to answer your questions and hopefully give you some peace of mind. Best regards!

Sagging Jowls - Is a Mid-Face Lift Needed with Lower Lift?

I am 54, but look slightly younger. I don't mind the normal aging around my eyes, etc. but my sagging jowls bother me. My Plastic Surgeon says he would not recommend having a lower face lift without at least also doing a mid-face lift, as well as a brow lift. Now he has agreed he would feel comfortable doing the lift without a brow lift, but says he would definitely recommend a mid-face lift with the lower face lift. Is it really necessary to also have a mid face lift with a lower face lift?

A: Lower and mid Facelift The terminology used by each physician may differ and does not necessarily correspond with textbook procedure so you need to break down the problem areas and your desires and what is truly needed to properly assess your best surgical protocol. In most patients at your age a mid facelift and lower facelift treating the jowls and neck area would be a good combination. A browlift is indicated in some patients however without preoperative photographs it is hard to determine your exact needs. Many times I would do an endoscopic browlift with a mid face suspension and lower facelift at the same time. Doing a browlift in combination with the other procedures often allows you to lift the face vertically rather then a horizontal pull allowing a more natural youthful appearance in the end. This however would only be indicated if you were a candidate for both procedures. Best regards!
