IPL vs Laser Genesis vs BBL Laser for Broken Capillaries

Hi, hope someone can help. I just paid $1500 for one treatment of Fraxel and I wanted it to get rid of my red broken capillaries and red in my cheeks and chin. It's not gone. My doc said it won't go away from Fraxel (wish I knew that earlier). WHAT is the best laser out there that will get rid of it?? I feel I'm spending too much money and not getting the results. PLEASE HELP :o( BBL???? IPL???? Laser Genesis ????

A: Candela V-beam or the Cutera CoolGlide Xeo work for broken capillaries

Candela V-beam or the Cutera CoolGlide Xeo are 2 of the best for broken capillaries.  In general there is a noticeable, dramatic improvement from just one treatment, although it is often 2 or 3 treatments before the blood vessels are completely gone.  You may have some bruising from the procedure, but often there is minimal bruising.

Fraxel doesn't help redness as you have learned.  Broadband light or Intense Pulsed Light will help minimally.  Laser Genesis also may help but it is also a more subtle improvement.

Good luck!

After IPL - When Will Broken Capillaries Disappear?

I had my first IPL 2 weeks ago to treat broken capillaries on my cheeks. I still haven't seen them go away. How long until I see a difference?

A: Broken capillaries and IPL

Following IPL, you will notice improvement in all superficial pigments (browns more than reds). Unfortunately, any deeper capillaries will not fade as much as the more superficial pigments. This is becaue the IPL beam can only penetrate a limited depth.

Olive Skin - IPL Burns

I am 40 with pigmentation due to sun damage from my teen years and hormonal changes due to pregnancy. It took 6 hours for the acute burning and redness to subside and I now have 7 stripes running from my ear to my nose and mouth, these are blistering and still incredibly painful after 24 hours. The treatment on my forehead is fine but both cheeks have these burns and stripes. I am continually applying aloe vera gel and cold compresses and taking paracetamol. Is there anything else I can do?

A: Blistering following IPL

Blistering following IPL can occur especially in olive skin colored patients and this is indicative a superficial burn. The blisters will resolve with your current regimen, but you will likely be left with hyperpigmented stripes. These too will fade with time, but you should consider applying a bleaching cream to hyperpigmented areas once the blisters have faded. Contact your plastic surgeon for instructions.
