My Chin Implat is Large Size with Wings, Is It Too Big? (photo)

2 weeks ago i hand chin implant 9mm with wings , i had a receeding chin from the lateral side view bt i loved my face from the front , now i feel like my face is way too long and specially the lower part of my face , my smile too is restricted and my lower lip covers my lower teeth this bothers me i used to love my smile :( , should i wait for 3 months or i have too replace it with a smaller one , i had nose job 6 months before the chin btw

A: Post chin implant is it to big? It is to early to tell. Difficulty smiling and restriction in the lip movement is common two weeks post chin augmentation. In viewing your pre and post operative photographs it appears that the implant is aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes with a larger chin implant it can make the frontal view of the face seem a bit more masculine and elongated. If you are not satisfied after time goes on discuss this with your surgeon and I am sure that he/she will be happy to revise it and place a smaller implant in if that is what is desired. Do give it sometime and allow the healing process and your beautiful smile to rejuvenate and then decide. Best regards!

Chin Implant Discomfort Years After Operation, Is This Normal?

Along with the rhinoplasty procedure, I also had a chin implant 3 and a half years ago in the summer of 2008 and all was fine but as of lately my chin has been getting sore for a couple days then the paint completely disappears then a couple months later will get sore again. Is this normal? Am I sleeping on my chin wrong and causing this to happen? The soreness is nothing too serious and only last a couple days then its back to normal.

A: Chin implant Chin augmentation via chin implant is typically a simple procedure with a quick recovery time. While there is some discomfort in the beginning most patients forget they even have an implant in within a few months or so post surgery. Perhaps you are placing some pressure in that area from sleeping position, telephone, resting on your hand, or something that is irritating the area. If your surgeon is in your area next time you are experiencing a painful episode I would suggest scheduling an appointment and going in for a post operative appointment for further diagnosis. Best regards!

Chin Implant Removal

How hard is it to remove a chin implant and how long is the recovery?

A: Chin Implant Removal

Chin implants are relatively easy to remove.  It is best to wait a month or longer to be sure this is what you want to do.  There is very little down time with this procedure.  The  type of anesthesia used for chin removal can be local or general.  Consult with your surgeon to help you with these decisions.
