I had liposuction of my flanks, abdomen, and lower back done two days ago, and have noticed my legs and ankles have gotten very puffy. is this normal? How long should it take for this bloating to go down? Is it possible that this is not bloating at all and fat has just transfered to other parts of my body?? thank you!
It is not unusual to have swelling or bloating of the lower legs and ankles in the first few days after liposuction. In most cases this will resolve with time and elevation, and does not represent fat that has shifted or moved from other parts of the body. However, do check with your surgeon. If your compression garments are too tight, they can sometimes aggravate this swelling. It may also be beneficial to limit your salt intake as this too can prolong swelling.
Hello, I had a Liposuction and Breast augmentation 10 days ago. The liposuction was done thru the BA insision (areaola) to remove fat between my breast and armpit area. Its been 10 days and I have formed some hard lumps in that area leading up to my armpit which I believe is scar tissue. I have had a biopsy on my breast before which also caused this, but went away after ~3 weeks. Should I expect this new scar tissue to do the same? Is this normal, and what can I do to improve it?
At ten day post liposuction, it is still very early after your surgery. The lumps you are feeling are probably associated with post operative swelling and bruising and will most likely resolve over the next several weeks. Massaging this area may help speed this process, but check first with your surgeon.
Hi I just had liposuction on my cheeks yesterday (previously had fat transferred there). The doctor had told me to keep my head elevated when sleeping with two pillows and wear a compression garment. I forgot about doing both when I went to bed for the first night - why should you do it? Does it affect the final result? I am following those instructions now. Thank you.
It is important to wear a compression garment following any liposuction, including the cheeks. The compression garment will help minimize swelling and bruising and speed the recovey following the liposuction. Elevation of the head will help decrease blood pressure to the face and will also help in decreasing the risk of bleeding and bruising. If you are doing OK now, I don't think you compromised your results. However, I would follow your surgeon's advice.
