Should I Do my Botox and Radiesse Treatments Before or After a Vi Peel?

I am planning to do a vi peel. Should I wait to do fillers after the peel or is it better to do those before? Any suggested wait time in between treatments?

A: Injections before or after peel

It should not matteer. The peel is superficial nad the injections are deep. However if you want to do them in the same day I would do the peel first. The masage with the peel may have an effect on the injectables.

At Home Vi Peel - Safe?

Is It Safe to Us VIpeel at Home Because I Suffer from Pigmentation ? im not sure if we have licensed centers that provide this treatment in my country .

A: Home Peels a Bad Idea!

Peels can give quite dramatic results when done by an experienced practitioner. However, they can be somewhat unpredictable. If you develop a  superficial infection it can make the peel go deeper and lead to scaring. Post treatment they require close supervision. Also, if you have a history of cold sores you can set off an out break which can lead to scaring if not properly treated.

Is Hyperpigmentation After Vi Peel Permanent?

I had Vi Peel on April 2, and my face became two shades darker. Is this permanent? I'm a light-skinned African-American and I'm really scared.

A: Hyperpigmentation after Peels

Skin should be prepped prior to peels. There are several important reasons for this. One, it helps take off the stratum cornium (the dead skin layer) and allows the peel to penetrate deeper. Second, it reduces the hyperactive pigment cells that can cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation ( dark spots). Third, it helps  to see how compliant the patient will be with their skin care, in the critical  and vulnerable post peel period.

I like to use a product with Retin A, hydroquinone, Kojic acid, hydrocortisone, Vitamin E and C, for a minimum of six to eight weeks, and even longer in darker skin types, before peeling my patients.

People with darker skin, or genetic background of darker skin, even if they are light skinned, have a greater risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Prep well before your peel. If you develop  post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, have your doctor start you on a lightening program. See them frequently. Be patient as it  may take a while to improve.
