Options For Indented Facial Scar From Dog Bite? (photo)

I have indented red scar above my lip from a dog bite 18years ago would a filler help with the appearance? I would love to cover it atleast w/makeup but since its indented makeup just makes it stand out more. Please help I need advice asap!!

A: Scar revision on the lips with Fractional CO2 and scar revision, Melaquin AM

There are many options for indented scars such as the one shown in the photo.  Surgical revision followed by Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing would be an ideal treatment protocol in my own practice in Santa Monica.  I would also recommend pre and post treatment with Melaquin AM and Melaquin PM to enhance the results of the scar revision of the lips.

How To Remove Bug Bite Scars From Legs?

I have two red pea sized bumps on each leg resembling a fresh bug bite. I am being told that they are bug bite scars. They appeared there after a trip to the field at Fort Hood, Texas three years ago. If true, I want to know what type of bug caused them as I never felt anything until I noticed the bumps and how they can be removed.

A: Dark scars on the legs called dermatofibroma

Dark scar on the leg is likely a dermatofibroma and is common in women who shave their legs.  Approximately one third of all women get these lesions.  You would be better off leaving the dermatofibroma alone as the scar from removal will likely not be an improvement.

Very Unhappy With Rib Cartilage Harvest Scar- Options?

Hi, I had revision rhinoplasty with rib cartilage. To add to my displeasure with the revision rhinoplasty results, I now have a very unsightly scar in the middle of my chest. The scar is VERY bothersome and looks exactly like a stab wound (I have actually seen better stab wounds than this). The skin has also caved in around the area where the rib cartilage was taken, I look like I am missing a piece of my chest where the cartilage was taken. Can this be fixed?

A: Rib cartilage scar

There are many options for revising the scar and improving the appearance so there is no reason to be upset about it.  Talk to your surgeon about surgically revising the scar to minimize the depression.  Redness/purpleness of the scar will fade over time and can be improved with lasers.  Hypertrophied scars can also be improved with lasers or steroid injections.
