If you want to lighten your complection and suffer from hyperpigmentation, How much lighter can it make you? (African Skin)
Cosmelan is designed to help blend areas of Hyperpigmentation. Sun exposure will darken any skin and promote increased color, both overall and as a catalyst for unwanted concentrations of pigment. As a long term program for actually lightening skin, you may seem some mild effects, but you won't be able to lift color substantially. In other words, don't look for a bleach effect.
By blending the hyper pigmented areas, you'll feel like your skin is lighter overall. Good skin care will provide more radiance and light reflection by preventing cell buildup which can make skin look ashy or darker.
Aggressively treating African skin can end up causing loss of natural pigmentation in an uneven way, so don't undertake a self-concocted lightening program.
Sun protection is your best friend when it comes to pigmentation control.
I live in Turkey and they don't have Cosmelan treatments here so i was thinking if its possible to buy the Treatment online and have a dermatologist over here administer the Mask here...Or is there something special that the doctor needs to do?
We would suggest that you purchase the product through the physician and practice that you are considering for treatment. Most practices would not allow you to bring your own product inasmuch as one should understand that there is value in the service being offered which includes the product. As a patient, you are investing in a treatment plan and the value of this is more than just the price of Cosmelan.
I'm a 24 year old F with a skin type 4, I've got post-acne pigmentation all over my back, I tried many txs including 6 sesions of microdermabrasion + medi wrap, 6 session of the Nd: yag and finally 4 sessions of TCA peel. However I still have plenty of pigmentation with an improvement of 20% max. I'm considering Cosmelan but during my research I read that its a temporary treatment for melasma where pigmentation will re-occur with time, I was wondering if thats true with post-acne pigmentation?
Only if you get new acne lesions. If you are prone to getting Post Inflammation Hyperpigmentation this can and will happen again. Cosmelan is a great option for Hyperpigmentation...
Hope this helps.
