Fat Transfer for Under Eye Circles
is fat transfer good for under eye hollows and small lines ? If anyone has done this procedure let me know how are the results. Thanks

Fat tranfer is a good option for treating the tear trough or the hollows.  Small lines, fillers are not a good option.  Restylane is also a good option for the treatment of the tear trough as well.  The differences are that fillers are out of the box and do not require obtaining the fat.  With fillers there is a bit more less risk of having lumps and bumps appear under the eye area, as the risk with fat injection in this area given the very thin skin is a bit higher that other areas treated with the fat.

Fat grafting can be permanent but what I tell my patients is that not all of it is permanent.  Some of the fat that is injected does stay but some die off.  So I say that to make the result permanent usually several sessions need to be performed to reach the ultimate result.

In general I say that about 40-50% of what is injected remains, but again this is just an approximation.

Fat transfer is permanent but we dont always get all the fat that is initially injected to last.  I usually tell patients that to have a permanent correction, they will likely need about 2-3 injections to the area of concern.
