Huge Protruding Lumps After Ab Liposuction

It has been six months since my ab liposuction and there are two huge hard lumps portruding in my abs. Around 5" by 3" each. One is at the center of my abs just below my cleavage area and the other one is at the center of the lower abdomen? I tried massaging it but it's not getting any softer and there is a mild pain in the area everytime I massage this. What could this be? And how can this be removed?

A: Unusual Results

What you are describing is very unusual. Have your surgeon examine you for:

  • possibility of fat necrosis (deteriorated scarred fat),
  • calcified hematoma (calcified, scarred blood collection),
  • undetected hernias.

Should I Try to Lose Weight Before Liposuction?

I have scheduled my liposuction in about a month. I weigh approximately 142 lbs now, and am 5'4''. Should I maintain my current weight or try to lose a few pounds between now and then? I have been trying to lose weight and I'm not sure how much weight is even possible for me to lose in a month. Thanks!

A: Should I Try to Lose Weight Before Liposuction?

It is not crucial to loose weight before liposuction. Overall, with weight loss you will look better and the amount of fat to be suctioned may be less.

Since you only have one month to go, I do not recommend a crash diet/exercise program. This may cause an imbalance in your system which is not healthy.

How Long Does It Take to See Final Liposuction Result?

I noticed immediate results a few days after having lipo, then weeks later, the results vanished. How long until I see the final and lasting result of my liposuction procedure?

A: How Long Does It Take to See Final Liposuction Result?

Generally, it takes 6-9 months to see the final results of liposuction. Vanishing of results a few weeks later could be swelling which can set in.
