Are the compression socks needed for the best long-term results from sclerotherapy or mainly to manage the swelling or circulation?
You should wear your compression stocking for 24 hours a day for 7 days, even in the showers and during sleep. Then just during the day for another week or two. It is important for you to wear the compression stockings because it will decrease any and all adverse effects and makes the procedure more effective.
When sclerotherapy of calf and thigh of both legs is needed, is the rest and recover time more than a week?
You can excercise immediately after your schlerotherapy treatment for your legs. In fact, I recommend that patients walk as much as possible for 2 weeks after the treatment to allow the medication to flow through the veins.
I just had a schlerotherapy session last week, I was instructed to wear bandage or stockings after the treatment. I only wear the bandage/stockings for like 2-3 days because I need to go to work..and I can't wear those things when I'm working. Is there any effect if I only compressed my legs for 2-3 days?
I recommend compression stockings (20-30 mg Hg compression) after sclerotherapy for 3 days. I believe it aids in the veins closing off. It also may help with swelling and bruising. I think they should additionally be worn intermittently after that for 4-5 days if the patient will be on their feet a lot.
