What is a Body Lift

What exactly is a body lift? Am I a good candidate if I just lost 100 lbs and am dealing with lose and hanging skin? I am trying to find out if it is a lot different than a tummy tuck.

A: Body Lift: What is it? Am I a candidate

A body lift is a general term for body contouring procedures that aim to remove excess skin in order to contour the skin onto the underlying body.  The traditional tummy tuck only removes skin from the abdomen.  A body lift can tighten and remove the skin circumferentially around the waist to create 360 degrees of shape.  In patients with significant weight loss, a board certified plastic surgeon can perform this type of contouring over the trunk, thighs, back, breasts, face and neck.  This creates a sensual and beautiful result with incisions that are strategically hidden.  The result is an aesthetic and beautiful contour and balance for the whole body.

Body Lift or Staggered Liposuction and Skin Removal For Saddle Bags?

HI,I had WLS and lost 120 lbs, feel great! I'm 5'10 tall and weigh 198 lbs with 25 more to be ideal wt. I workout daily, cardio & weight training but cannot seem to get rid of my outer thigh area which is disproportionately bigger than rest of my body. I wear a medium on top and XL pant 18! As I continue on my weight loss if I lose more weight on face will lose buccal fat now!:( Thinking of liposuction of saddlebags at this point in a series.. with lower body lift after? So discouraged your op?

A: Body Lift- Improving the thighs, abdomen, and back

Congratulations on your weight loss and body transformation.  Body contouring surgery is a general term for all the aesthetic procedures that board certified plastic surgeons perform to contour the skin over the newly defined underlying frame.  Massive weight loss is associated with the presence of loose droopy skin.  By performing a specified lift to any area of concern, a trained surgeon can create the sensual and beautiful contours and smooth skin you are striving for.  Once you attain your goal weight, the lifting surgery is better suited to attaining your goals than liposuction.  Often times you get better and more aesthetic results with the body lift versus liposuction first.  If your concern is the outer thigh appearance, then either a thigh lift or circumferential belt lift can accomplish your goals.  A detailed consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you create the perfect surgical plan to give you that sexy shape and figure.

Am I At The Right Weight For a Full TT, Breast Lift, and Medial Thigh Lift? (photo)

I am 50 years old, lost 80 pounds over several years through low-carb, and have been 15 pounds shy of "normal" BMI for over 6 months now (155 pounds at 5'3"). Looking at my pics, though, I sure don't feel like I'm anywhere close to normal and wonder if this is "close enough" for good results. I'm looking for less abdomen, less saggy inner thighs, and "shorter" breasts (not bigger, no implants). Is my wish list of procedures appropriate for me at this time or is more weight loss necessary?

A: Plastic Surgical Procedures after Weight Loss?

Thank you for the question and pictures. Congratulations on your significant weight loss;  you should be very proud of this accomplishment.

Although I think you may be an ideal candidate for the planned procedures, only you will know  if 155 pounds is where you would like to be long-term.  If you are planning on losing additional weight it is best to do so prior to surgery.

Again, I think your “wish list” is very appropriate;  I would suggest that you plan on having these procedures done in two separate stages.

Also, it would be helpful for you to be evaluated by your family practitioner/internist (with a full history, physical examination, EKG and laboratory workup)  prior to surgery.

I hope this helps.
