What Are my Options for Hypertrophic Chin Scar Revision?

I am a general physician and suffered a laceration to my right chin 5 weeks ago. I was struck on chin with a squash racquet. My colleague, an ER physician sutured the laceration but did not use any buried stitches. He tried his best to approximate the wound. I have been using kelocoate twice a day. The laceration is approximately 3/4s of an inch. I am concerned about scar thickness and i am wondering what my options are i.e. early laser, w plasty or geometric closure in 6 months.

A: Hypertrophic scar on the chin

The simplest thing to try now is steroid injection in the scar. If that is not satisfactory, the scar can be revised to reorient it more vertical along minimal tension lines followed by a little dermabrasion/laser resurfacing 6 weeks later.

Scarring at the Outer Corner of my Eye. Can It Be Fixed?

I had a lower Bleph skin incision and then sometime later a vein removed from under my eye. The surgeon who removed the vein, cut near the corner of my eye and now my eye is rounded and what looks like webbing. At times the scar runs vertical and other times my eye looks rounded. Can this be fixed or should I leave it alone? Who would be the best doctor to fix this? How would be be fixed? I am scared my eye will end up smaller and look more pulled (overtime) with more surgery? please help.

A: Webbing following lower blepharoplasty

This can be corrected, bring up your concern with your surgeon. If you want a second opinion, I think your best bet is an ophthalmic plastic surgeon.

What Can I Do to Fix the Scar on the Vermillion Border of my Upper Lip?

I am unhappy with how my upper lip now looks and would like to know what possible treatments there are to fix or remove the scar and approximately how much it would cost. I received the cut about a month ago and the wound has since healed but the upper border is now slightly misaligned by the scar. Also, is laser treatment a possibility I should consider? What would the approximate downtown be for a corrective procedure? Thanks.

A: Upper lip scar

You need a scar revision and surgical realignment of the upper vermillion which is the upper border of the lip. Downtime is about 1 week.
