I was given Botox injections on 1/26/12. 5 days later on 1/31/12 I noticed that my left eyelid was drooping. My brows are even, only the one eyelid is drooping down close to the top of the pupil. I was prescribed Apraclonidine .5. It took a few days to start working, but now right after I use the drops my eyes almost look even, though still not 100% normal. Can anyone tell me when I may notice a permanent improvement? It's been 12 days since my injections. I'm desperate!
It is a good thing the droop responds to apraclonidine. It usually goes away in 2-3 weeks. Ask the injector to aim the needle upward next time, especially the outermost site.
I had botox to the glabellar and crows feet 2 days ago and my new practitioner also gave me a half unit towards the upper, outer corner of my eyebrows too stating that this would raise my saggy eyelids. I've never had this before with my previous botox practitioner and am worried that this botox will actually cause my eyelid to droop?
Injection of Botox at the lateral brow will tend to elevate the outer brow and will not drop the lid. I use 2 to 2.5 units for this. Half unit will not do much so you can stop worrying.
I recently relocated from Scottsdale AZ to Las Vegas and I was disappointed to learn that they regulate the sale and distribution of botox differently. I usually use about 20 units total. From what I've been told (from three drs offices) in Vegas they will not allow you to purchase less than 50 units because you have to purchase the entire vile. When I explained that's much more than I need one place told me that it's ok because using more will make the results last longer. Any truth to this?
First of all a vial normally has 100 units, not 50. Secondly, at some point more Botox will only increase complications and not increase the duration of action which has more to do with how long your body takes to grow new nerve endings to the affected muscles. There is definitely something fishy going on with those offices so call around some more physicians in your area.
