How LOng After First Session of IPL Can I Have 2nd Session?

ive done my first session of ipl 5 days ago to remove acne scars and i am new to the subject. but the scars have increased in redness and i understand it is a normal reaction from what ive read. And i would like to know if i can do my next session after 15 days so as to speed up removal of acne scars?

A: 4 weeks is the standard

Most physicians perform IPL at 4 week intervals. You could do them sooner (2-3wks) but it depends upon the time course of your healing and what you are trying to achieve. Discuss this with your doctor.

Is the Application of a Cooling Gel Necessary Before IPL Skin Rejuvenation?

The therapist I have booked a treatment with does not apply a cooling gel to the face before treatment, and only cools the skin with a cool pack. Will this affect the results of the treatment?

A: It depends on the machine

Whether or not gel is used really depends upon the IPL device.  All systems use some form of cooling to protect the skin.  Some have built in cooling and do not require the gel.  Some need the gel to help diffuse heat and cool the skin.

Would a Few Rounds of IPLS in my 40s Be a Good Aging Preventer?

I am a light skinned light brunette, sunblock every day. Just want to keep it all as it is as much as possible without heavy treatments. My face is thin so I don't want to lose any volume...

A: IPL is for color

You should think of IPL as a treatment for color in the face.  It can eliminate unwanted redness or fine broken capillaries as well as many "sunspots" or brown lentigines on the face.  The overall effect of this is evening the skin color so it is not so splotchy.

IPL is not really a treatment for wrinkles or skin texture. It is a great treatment for many young women with some early signs of sun damage that don't require any treatment for loose, uneven skin texture or wrinkles.  Generally, about 4-6 treatments are required to get a substantial effect.  The true upside is that you can get some wonderful skin improvement without any visible healing time.
