What Can I Expect to Notice Immediately After Having Radiesse?

What are some things I should avoid right before a radiesse treatment that might cause unusual effects?

A: Minimize the swelling and bruising

Radiesse, which is Calcium Hydroxyapetite is a relatively inert substance with very rare chance of an allergic reaction. The only issues after treatment would be the potential swelling and bruising.  There is a rather dull pain associated with the treatment for the first day as well which is very minor.  To minimize the bruising and swelling, patient is recommended to avoid any blood thinners, which include aspirin, coumadin, plavix in addition to fish oil and vitamin E.  It is also recommended to start taking Arnica few days before and after the treatment.  Icing the treated area immediately after and applying the arnicare cream is also very effective in avoiding the swelling and the bruising.

Can I Wait 7 Months for Mohs for 2mm Nodular BCC on Nose?

Biopsy result is 2mm nodular BCCpresent on deep and one peripheral margin. Carcinoma is composed of bland basaloid keretinocytes with peripheral pallsaded of nuclei. Due to a full calendar of raising a 16 year old daughter. I would like to wait until week of July 23rd to have my Mohs procedure done. I do not feel that I am emotionaly ready to go through recovery of my scar in January. In July I would have the privacy of healing that I do not have the luxury of now.

A: The sooner the treatment, the smaller the potential scar

As you know, Basal Cell Cancer, even though not an aggressive tumor by any means, is still a cancer.  Nodular BCC by defnition could be extending vertically and deep in addition to the outside periphery. Mohs surgery could remove the cancer cells entirely while sparing the uninvolved skin.  If the cancer is in fact only 2mm, the potential scar and recovery could be very minimal and should not interfere with your daily activities. However, if the cancer is allowed to progress and get bigger, it would need more removal of tissue with result of a potentially larger scar.

How LOng After First Session of IPL Can I Have 2nd Session?

ive done my first session of ipl 5 days ago to remove acne scars and i am new to the subject. but the scars have increased in redness and i understand it is a normal reaction from what ive read. And i would like to know if i can do my next session after 15 days so as to speed up removal of acne scars?

A: 4 weeks is the standard

Most physicians perform IPL at 4 week intervals. You could do them sooner (2-3wks) but it depends upon the time course of your healing and what you are trying to achieve. Discuss this with your doctor.
