32H Extremely Dense (>75%), Risks of Reducing from H to B? (photo)

I am a lean, athletic, large breasted 5'8" woman with size 32H breasts. The density is level IV, per BI RADS. I would like to reduce them to a B. Aside from the obvious symptomatic problems I imagine a B since I just don't favor larger breasts. I envision a loose button-up shirt, baggy jeans, hanging out in my art cottage, in a mostly private setting. I am a bit of an introvert. Plus, I am a lesbian and more tomboyish. Does this pose special risk's due to density, like to nipples?

A: Breast Reduction Safety

Hello EmbraceMe,

I understand your desire to minimize your breasts with your concerns of the safety of over-reduction.  Having dense breast tissue does not necessarily increase your risk of reduction, and in fact gives a nicer appearance to the mound after the reduction and lift.  Your photos are not revealing, but I can still get an idea of the relative size of your breasts and the position of the nipple areolar complex.

I would see only surgeons that have a great reputation for breast reduction surgery.  These people would of course be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and also be members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Although I don't think a B cup is realistic, a relatively high and tight C cup is.  I have posted a link to a photo of a large breasted woman who got a similar result.

Best of luck!

Will I Definitely Lose Feeling in my Nipples After a Reduction?

I am scheduled for a consultation in a few weeks for a breast reduction. I have been doing my research and the only concern I have is loss of sensation. Is this something that is inevitable? Do I really have to give this up in order to have smaller breasts? I will go ahead because I know the pro's out weigh the cons but it all actuality it makes me sad to think about.

A: Will You loose nipple sensation with breast lift and/ or reduction

the chance of loosing nipple sensation with breast lift and reduction is low, as long as the nipple-areolar complex is not completely detached and regrafted. Although there is variation in techniques for breast reduction, I usually see that more than 90% of my patient retain most of their nipple sensation with major breast lift or breast reduction in los angeles.

Will Insurance Pay For a Reduction if You Have Implants? I Was a Saggy C Before, Now 40E?

I am a patient at Mayo for severe pain and back issures. I'd love a reduction but I have implants so I'm wondering if I would be covered? I'm 5'2" and a 40DDD? The doc went bigger "made an executive decision" after he put me under, without my permission. I've had them for over 12 years. Also wondering if I could get really small implants after getting the bigs ones taken out and getting a reduction. Originally I was a large C cup but was saggy, so I had a lift with implants.

A: Breast Reduction by Implant Removal

Hello Reduce me Mpls,

Symptomatic macromastia (painful large breasts) is a medical condition, regardless of whether the cause is natural breast tissue or implants.  So theoretically it is coverable by insurance.  You and your chosen surgeon may opt to have removal of implants covered by insurance and still do non-medical procedures performed simultaneously (breast implant replacement and breast lift).  This is not insurance fraud and perfectly legal, as long as you are paying a reasonable fee for the cosmetic portion of the surgery.

What you are considering is not simple, and requires experience and talent on the part of your surgeon.  I recommend you visit only surgeons with excellent reputations for breast surgery that are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and are also members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Best of luck!
