I have a 29" waist and love handles that are 38" at the fullest part. When the love handle curve ends, the line goes in and then goes out for 42.5" hips. It looks like a triple curve on my body. 1) Is there a way I can just get fat injected into the line that goes back in so that way the love handle curve extends into my hips, making it look like an hourglass shape? 2) Does the fat need to be injected just at the sides or around the whole body? What is the procedure called, if it does exist?
Yes you can have fat injected into the lateral (side) portion of your hips to improve the contour. This is done quite commonly during a Brazilian buttock augmentation. The waist line and love handles also need to be contoured as well. I can give you a better answer if you include photos in your post. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person examination.

I'm 33 and planned to get implants to correct my asymmetry (B on left and prob an A and a half on right). I mentioned to a surgeon that I would wait to get implants until after I have children if I were symmetrical. He suggested fat grafting on the right breast. He is an experienced and board certified surgeon who has attended several seminars on the topic, but is still somewhat new to the procedure. I do trust this surgeon to do the best job possible, but I'm not sure that I should do this now.
There are two separate issues here. The first is the safety and efficacy of fat grafting to the breast. The second is the capability of your surgeon.
Fat grafting is an excellent technique for volumizing structures. It is well established in most areas of the body. Breast is controversial not because of the technique but because 1 in 8 woman in this country are diagnosed with breast cancer. Concerns about surgical changes in the breast caused by fat grafting interfering with diagnosis of cancer has led to delay in endorsing the technique by the surgical society. Fat grafting as a technique also has some drawbacks. 50% of what you place does not survive. Contour irregularities may develop in a percentage of people and repeat procedures are often necessary to reach desired volumes.
In my opinion fat grafting for small augmentations or correcting asymmetries is an excellent technique. Imaging of the breast and standard surveillance for breast cancer will be necessary. Surgical changes to the breast are stable over time and easily detected by radiologists.
As far as your surgeon is concerned, ask specific questions about their fat grafting experience in the body face and breast. Ask to see before and after photos and to speak with individuals who have had the same procedure as you. As mentioned the technique is not new but the area grafted is, many surgeons are just beginning to perform this procedure and do not have a great deal of experience. Discuss this with your surgeon as well. a board certified plastic surgeon will have the ability to fat graft the breast.
Good luck and I hope this was helpful
I'm 5' 6.5" and 178lbs. I'm 24 years old and considering getting fat injection to my breasts. I currently a cup B; however, I want it to be make my breasts fuller or bigger as cup C. I prefer this method to the implant because it's more natural. I wonder if there will be any risks or side effect. Am I a good candidate for this procedure? What is the method of getting fat out of my body? Is this procedure widely used? Thank you!!
You may be a candidate for this if your skin is compliant (loose) enough to accommodate the injected fat cells. In other words, patients with very tight breast skin, may need pre-expansion with a negative suction device called Brava to allow the skin to expand. If your skin is elastic enough and you have enough donor fat, then you may in fact be a good candidate for this procedure. I remind patients that a certain percentage of the fat cells will shrink after they are injected, therefore it's very possible you may need a second procedure to achieve the desired size. Going up one cup size is quite reasonable with this type of augmentation.
Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon familiar with fat grafting techniques.
Best wishes,
Dr.Bruno
