Why Didn't Restylane Work In My Lips? Should I Go For Another Syringe?

I'm 22, Asian, my lips are pretty full already, but I've always wanted a larger top lip-had 1 syringe of Restylane injected last week. It really hurt. My lips looked great for two days. On the third day, I woke up and they had completed deflated. They look exactly like my natural lips. I know this because I took pics before the procedure and each day following. The doctor says I should come back for a second syringe, but will it make a difference? it really hurt and was expensive...

A: Why Didn't Restylane Work In My Lips? Should I Go For Another Syringe?

Sounds more like a case of needing more volume not an issue that the Restylane went away in a few days.  IMHO, Restylane and Juvederm work great as fillers to add volume to thin lips.  However, if the lips require additional volume, Alloderm Lip Implants are the gold standard offering soft, supple, plump lips that last over 7 years.  The most import factor in Lip Augmentation, IMO, is that the MD performing the Lip Augmentation understands and follows the proper aesthetics of facial beauty (and lip proportion) for the creation of a naturally, more attractive face...and lips.

Restylane Disappeared 5 Days After Injection, Is This Normal?

my doctor used 3/4 ampule of restylane to fill my upper lip . the result was great just after the injection .. 2 hours later i had a huge huge swelling and my mouth looked like a duck . i kept icing the area and i used (surgam) to reduce the swelling . now after 5 days of injection . i feel that i didn't do anything and the effect has gone . doctor said that i need to retouch . but it will worth or i will have the same result ? thank you

A: Swelling after Restylane

It is expected to have swelling after Restylane or any type of filler is injected.  After a several days, sometimes up to a few weeks, the swelling will subside.  Once this has happened, patients feel like the product has disappeared, when it in fact it has not.  It just appears that way because there was significant swelling before settling down.  If there is any doubt, ask to see your before photos.

Why Are Restylane Injections (Undereye Hollows) So Expensive?

It's usually recommended that 2 syringes are used per eye; $1000 per syringe. Why is restylane so expensive? Is appears cheaper and more convienent to get an under eye implant atleast the results will be permanent where as with restylane you'll have to come back approximately every 6 months to 1 year for injections. Someone please help, I need undereye hollows filled but I can't afford $3000-4000 for restylane injections.

A: Restylane Under the Eyes

Restylane under the eyes can lead to dramatic improvement in your overall appearance.  This is generally recommended over eye implants depending on your goals.

Cost will depend on multiple factors--the most important being the skill of the injector, your geographic location, any rebates offered by the manufacturer, and cost of the product.  Be wary of any deals that seem too good to be true, as you often get what you pay for.

In my experience, Restylane will typically last 1-1.5 years in the undereye area.   I tend to be more conservative to avoid having my patients look like they've had something done.  Depending on how much product you need to volumize this area, I sometimes start with one syringe and add additional product later.
