Chemical Peel Vs. Photodynamic Therapy? I have mild acne on my face, and extremely large, VERY oily, and red pores on my nose. My general skin condition is also very patchy, dry and red in places. I have had chemical peels before, and actually use a home salicylic acid peel (15%) every few days to clear my pores, however my skin is still poor. How does PDT differ from a chemical peel, and what is the likelihood that it would improve my skin if the peels to date have not worked for me? Thanks

A: Photodynamic therapy works great for Rosacea

PDT works great for rosacea which you may have and should see a dermatologists to confirm. A photo sensitizer liquid is applied to your skin then a lPL or intense light source is applied which works to shrink oil glands and kill bacteria on the skin.

What Does Blu U Light Treatment Cost? Do you only have this treatment once or is it usually a package? What's the cost range?

A: Blu U with Levulan treatments cost $350 per session and usually are done 4X

Blu U with levulan is called PhotoDynamic Therapy and is great for acne and pre-cancers such as actinic keratoses. The cost is usually $350 per session and is done usually 4 times with 2 weeks between sessions. You can also use Blu U by itself for acne treatments and usually runs $150 a session done at 2-3 times per week for 4 weeks. Sincerely,

Is Photodynamic Therapy a Good Acne and Rosacea Treatment? I have tried a few treatments for my acne and rosacea but nothing has worked very well so far and someone in an acne chatroom I go to suggested I try photodynamic therapy with amnio...something acid. First of all, what the -bleep- is it? I've heard of Photodynamic therapy but not the acid treatment. Also, has this been known to be a good treatment for acne and/or rosacea? Thanks,

A: Photodynamic therapy is great for acne

PDT is a great treatment for acne and usually takes 4 treatments at 2 weeks apart at a cost of $350 per treatment. Levulan solution is applied to the skin for 45 minutes then a Blu U light is applied for 15-20 minutes. It is totally painless and very effective. You do look quite red for 2-3 days but it is so worth it.
