A: Facial Lipoma

Removal of a facial lipoma can put the facial nerve at risk.  However, this depends on the location and relation to the anatomy.  Please see a board certified facial plastic surgeon who is familiar with facial anatomy for the best results.  (S)he will use a nerve monitor to monitor the facial nerve during surgery.

My Doctor Told Me That He Could Not Remove my Lipoma Wholly- He Took out in Pieces

I had a lipoma surgery on my left side neck last week, after the surgery doctor told me that he could not remove the lipoma wholly rather he has removed some in pieces and there is still some left. Now I am concern about the left over part of lipoma that what will be effects of this left over

A: Lipoma

The anatomy in the neck is delicate.  Your surgeon may have felt that it was safer to piecemeal the lipoma out with remnants that as one piece.  If it is a lipoma, is likely to recur but it will take time to do so and will be gradual.

What Are my Lipoma Treatment Options?

I might have a lipoma and I am just curious about what kind of lipoma treatments exist. Is surgery the only option for lipoma removal or do people with lipomas have other options?

A: lipoma surgery excision

Lipoma removal is usually a simple procedure under local anesthesia.  Majority of lipomas can be removed like an "marble" from a small incision.  This takes about 5 minutes to perform.  As a dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon I close the incision with disolvable sutures so there are no sutures outside for the best cosmetic result.  There are some Lipomas that are larger and more fibrous and attached which require more work.  The cost for removal is about $100.
