What would be the best form of braces if you have receeding gums? My front of teeth sit out too much and the front 2 are crooked. I would be keen for a quick fix such as the Invisaligh Lite braces however I am unsure if this would be wise with my associated receeding gum problem.
My 2nd option would be for the lingual braces (behing the teeth) however, I am put off by this due to the length of time it takes to see improvement. The tradational braces are not an option I want discretion!
Gum recession can be caused by gum disease and traditional braces, even the lingual braces prevent you from properly brushing and flossing. The easy answer is clearly Invisalign..They are completely removable for cleaning and dont cause a flossing problem..
What is a Board Certified Orthodontist? Is there more than one board an orthodontists could get certified into become a Board Certified Orthodontist?
I believe all Orthodontists are board certified. Some like to flower up their resumes and websites by stating the obvious about their credentials. Im a board certified general dentist also but I dont put that in my title. I do orthodontics in my practice every day but im not board certified in that field, so I cant call myself an orthodontist...hope this helps..
I have benign vertigo and have read that Invisalign can cause a lot of head pain. Should I not consider Braces since I have vertigo or are the chances of head pain minimal? I just have a gap in front teeth that I want fixed. It's not bad at all. Thank you.
Vertigo is usually caused from an inner ear fluid issue. Invisalign is a kinder, gentler way of moving teeth which is much less painful than traditional braces. You won't get head pain from them just some minor tooth sensitivity in the area of movement. If your bite is also being corrected with Invisalign then your Vertigo could actually be reduced a little.
The TMJ joint is very near the ear canal so if your bite is off it can't create a lot of pressure on your ear canal which could slightly affect your inner ear fluids. People that have TMJ issues can also have vertigo also. Its very complicated and you need a good consult with both professionals. All in all I think you would be fine to fix your front teeth with no problems.
