Hi I am 6 weeks post-op from a full tummy tuck & want my PS to do a scar revision on me at the 6-12 month mark as my scar is very high ( he doesn't seem very willing to do it). He also did not do repair on my diastasis recti and I have a 3 finger separation. ( I have very good skin skin with no stretch marks from pregnancy) if I can convince him to do the scar revision would I be able to have my muscles tightened/ sewn together at same time? Would my skin need to be peeled back to ribcage again?
Thanks for your great question -
In reviewing your pictures it appears likely that you may benefit from scar revision. Certainly rectus plication or even re-plication can be performed at this time. It will require re-elevation of the abdominoplasty flap to the subcostal margin (up to the level of your ribs).
You may find the re-operation to require a longer recovery if it includes the plication.
Be sure you completely discuss your options with your surgeon and if you are uncomfortable with the response or plan be sure to get second or third opinions.
I hope this helps!
Thanks for your time doctors. I have some very ugly icepick scarring on both cheeks and my dermatolagist recommended I come in for Cynergy Multiplex. Is Cynergy Multiplex the same as Affirm Multiplex? I don't mind spending the money if I will see results. I understand my scarring will never 100% go away but it would be great to hide them if I can. Also will accutane shrink the appearance of my pores permanently? I have very big pores on my cheek that makes it looks like I have more Icepicks.
While there is no magic bullet for patients with ice pick acne scars to achieve porcelain smooth skin, there are plenty of good options including punch excision of ice pick scars, fractional co2 laser resurfacing, Nd:Yag based lasers such as Spectra laser, Cutera GenesisPlus or Cynergy Multiplex. It is important that the treatment protocol be customized for your skin type and priorities and be supervised by a board-certified dermatologist.
I recently fell and hurt my bottom lip. I had a semi deep laceration; I did not get stitches. The swelling went away and the actual laceration healed itself in about 5 days. I am now left with a sort of "bump" or nodule on the inside of my lip where the laceration was. It is not noticeable unless I push my lip against my teeth...but I can feel it with my tongue very easily. What is this? Will this go away on its own, in time? Or do I have to see a Dr. to get this removed? Please advise. Thanks!
The affected area should be examined by a board-certified dermatologist. Before punch excision, one or more intralesional steroid injection may be enough to take care of it.
