I am scheduled for one after 17 days of applying a skin lightening cream. I was told that approx. 3-4 days after application that I would peel and that was about it. Is a Jessner's Peel the same as a TCA chemical peel? Will I have a shiny and pink face for 'weeks' after procedure? I have a wedding 3 weeks after scheduled peel. Thank you for your time.
Jessner peel is a superficial chemical peel that should not involve more than 3-4 days of pinkness and peeling. Pretreatment with bleaching cream or prescription strength retinoid cream can be helpful but not necessary. It is sometimes combined with TCA chemical peel to make TCA chemical peel more potent.
It was recommended to me that I do a series of 6 Jessner peels every 2 weeks over a period of 12 weeks. I am new to Cosmedix and am concerned that a total of 6 treatments may be a form of a sales thing and that many not be entirely necessary.
If they are, will the down time I experience be consistent from Peel to peel, or do you expect that it would decrease the more peels I have?
Downtime associated with chemical peels depend on the depth of the chemical peel, preceding skin care such as prescription strength tretinoin, as well as individual variability. 35% TCA chemical peel may take 6-9 days, 10% TCA chemical peel may take 4-7 days, Jessner's peel may take 3-6 days, 70% glycolic acid peel may take 2-4 days, 30% glycolic acid peel may take 1-3 days.
I am 39 years old, and 1 day post Jessner peel. My goals are to reduce brown spots and sun damage. I now have blisters and weeping, tight, red, very swollen skin. I also have a strong itching sensation. Is this normal and should I put something on my skin?
