I am 16 years old, and I sweat profusely out of my armpits. I wear prescription strength antiperspirant deodorant, and that doesn't do a thing. I sweat no matter what the temperature is, and no matter what I'm doing. I'll have sweat stains on my armpits that take up my whole armpit, and go all the way down to my ribs.
Dear guitar520,
Excessive sweating of the underarms is a common condition called axillary hyperhidrosis. For mild cases, topical antiperspirants may be effective. For more significant cases, treatments such as Botox injections, liposuction of the underarms, and the noninvasive miraDry procedure may be effective.
Warmest wishes,

Can Botox treat hyperhidrosis? Is this Botox hyperhidrosis treatment approved by the FDA or just experimental?
Yes, BOTOX can be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) quite effectively, from my experience. It became FDA-approved for treatment of this ailment in 2004. You may also be interested to know that BOTOX is also in the late stages of FDA-approval for use in treating migraines and chronic headaches. It has recently been approved for such use in Britain.
I know that Botox Cosmetic lasts a few months, but how long does Botox last when it is used to treat excessive sweating?
The good news is that BOTOX, when used for hyperhidrosis, often lasts much longer than it does for treatment of hyperdynamic wrinkles in the face. The initial treatment may only last 4-6 months as is the case with use of BOTOX for treatment of wrinkles. When I have this treatment done for my own case of axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis, the effect generally lasts 16-18 months now that I’ve been receiving treatments for a few years. The initial treatment effects for me lasted in the 6-month range and have become progressively longer lasting over time. With hyperhidrosis of the hands and feet, the length of treatment effects may be more variable.
