Why Can't I Have Neck or Facelift as a Smoker?

I've had both upper and lower eye lid surgery, arm reduction and a tummy tuck. I am a smoker and am 51 years old. I've healed fine in all cases. Why can't I have a neck or facelift?

A: Smoking and facelift.

There is no circumstance in which smoking is okay with a facelift/necklift.  As mentioned, this is a powerful constrictor of vessels.  This will likely lead to poor healing and significant scarring.

If You Have Undergone a Breast Reduction in the Past Can It Be Re-done?

I underwent a reduction in 2004 and since then have gained some weight. My breasts are fuller with a little drooping. Can a person undergo a repeat bilateral breast reduction or would some other procedure be beneficial? I am a 38 DD.

A: Repeat breast reduction

Yes you can undergo another reduction.  You will want to bring your old operative notes with you if you are seeing a new surgeon.  The method of reduction and where the blood supply is positioned is vital piece of information in planning the second reduction.  I do agree that your weight should be stable.

I would recommend weight loss, if possible, before the surgery.  Breast are largely fat.  If you achieve a significant weight loss it is likely that you would only need a lift.

Can One Breast Be Allergan and Other Be Mentor? Will There Be a Noticeable Difference?

had implants replaced in July 2011, with Allergan, had complications with right implant had to be removed. Now ready for new implant and doctor wants to put in a Mentor inmplant. Will there be a big noticeable difference.....

A: Different implants in breast augmentation.

I agree with the other surgeons.  I see no reason to have separate implants in each side. For one thing, the warranties will be different in that case.  If you choose to move to Mentor, I would replace both with Mentor.  You should discuss this with your surgeon as to why he is choosing this approach.  Some surgeons only use one of these companies.

Overall, you probably will not see a huge difference if he chooses a similar implant.  The bigger problem is the warranty situation.
