i am considering a chin implant, but i am afraid that my chin would look longer! i don't want to change my face shape into a box, i just want to improve the way my profile looks... so what do u suggest?
As an alternative to a chin implant, you can consider an osseous genioplasty, where the bone is cut and moved forward to give the chin more prominence, injectable fillers (which are temporary) or autologous fat transfer.
What can I expect in terms of bruising and swelling after undergoing chin implant surgery? If there are bruises, does the discoloration appear in other areas of the face? Does the swelling go down in a week? Could bruising last 2 weeks?
I tell all my patients that they could experience a bruise after a chin augmentation. Swelling is variable but certainly should be expected. Dressings, compression, icing, etc can reduce the severity of both. I think it is possible that bruising could be present for up to 2 weeks, although this is unlikely in my experience. Most of the swelling and bruising will settle in the upper neck. Best of Luck, Dr. Todd Hobgood.
I am very seriously considering a chin implant, but I am concerned about possible pain or future problems because I have a tooth implant in my lower right jaw. This tooth implant was a mistake that I was convinced to put in by a dentist many years ago. It has caused intermittant pain and problems for me over the years which is another reason i'm hesitant about proceeding w/the chin implant now. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
Your previous and not too ideal tooth implant should have no impact on the ability to have a chin augmentation with an implant and should not affect the immediate postoperative outcome.
