With Breast Implants, What Placement Is Best For Me? What Could Cause Rupture?
I'm 18, 5'1", 112 lbs. I'm naturally a B cup and I'm considering saline breast implants to become a D cup. Should I go for under or over the muscle and would it cause the chances of the implant to rupture more one way?
A: Implant size and rupture
Picking implant size depends on your breast dimensions, size, breast tissue and shape. The size cannot be promised since it depends on which bra you wear (I.e. A "D" in one brand may be a "C" in another brand- much like dresses or shoes). There are advantages to placing the implants under the muscle. Placement of the implants does not influence rupture rates. Saline implants usually deflate from either fold failure or problems with the fill valve.
I Have Hardening of my Implant in One Breast. Will Massaging Make Any Difference?
i had my implants 4 years ago this summer. i have no problems at all with the other one.
A: Capsular contracture four years postopertive
Capsular contracture can occur many years after breast augmentation. Breast massage at this point will not help improve the hardening. The hardening can progress to the point where the breast implant feels rock hard. Frequently, when the implant gets hard, it tends to displace upward towards the axilla. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort ormyour clothes don't fit quite right secondary to the displacement of the implant then you will likely wish to proceed with surgical correction. You should consult with your board certified plastic surgeon to confirm the diagnosis and to discuss your options.
Could This Be an Infection (Skin) or the Breast Implant? (photo)
I noticed hole a week or so after surgery... only drainage, no pain, no swelling and no fever. Been taking antibiotics with no real improvement but it's not getting worse either.
A: Suture granuloma
This looks like a suture granulomas (or suture abscess or spitting stitch) which are not uncommon following breast or body surgery. These usually resolve after the piece of suture material is removed without the need for further surgical intervention. However, for definitive diagnosis and care, you should see your board certified plastic surgeon.
