Can Dysport Result in Permanent Damage to Orbital Septum?

Had dysport for crows feet 27 wks ago. Included injections towards the middle under my eye. Overnight a bulge under left eye developed which Dr thought was swelling from injection. It did not resolve & I now know it is a herniated orbital fat pad. As muscle activity has returned I have noted that when I smile widely the fat pad is pulled back into place. However when my face is relaxed or smiling slightly the bulge remains. Is it the muscles or septum that support the fat pad in a relaxed face?

A: dysport injection, eyelid bulge

Dysport will not cause any herniation in your fat pad.  You should find that your dysport is functional for about 16 to 20 weeks in general.  At this point, I believe you have no further action of the injected dysport and likely need a consultation with a board certified physician.  Although off label, I have had tremendous success injecting around the periorbit and have been doing so for years.

Can Dysport Incorrectly Injected Cause Hallowing Under the Eyes and Eye Bags Permanently?

At age 24, seeking help for under eye hallowing..I went to a medspa. Being young, and not well educated on fillers, etc... I trusted in the nurse. She suggested I get Dysport. So I did. Clearly, now 2 years later, after much research, I know this is for wrinkles, NOT filling areas... I now have worse hallowing and under eye bags. Can Dysport cause this? Even two year later? Or is this due to other circumstances? I have lost weight and aged 2 years.. I just hope that Dysport wasn't the culprit!

Botox or Dysport are not the culprits in this scenario.  However, either option is only injected in very tiny amounts under the eyelid to sometimes change and overactive "squint" that produces a strong roll of muscle under the eyes.  But still, it is temporary and not the cause of what you are seeing currently.  Take heart, though, that many options exist based on the severity of the hollowing.  Typically a small amount of filler on either side can camoflauge this issue and give a lovely result.  Think about this option as being the best one to correct the problem.  Hope that helps!  Dr. Shep

Dysport Side Effects...Do I Need Medical Attention?

I had dysport exactly 1 week ago. 3 days later I experienced strange pains shooting down my left arm. Yesterday, I came down with what I thought was an ear infection. Today the pain moved down to the lymph node on the right side of my neck. It is very swolllen and painful. I am taking Advil and using warm compresses as instructed by the mayo clinic web-site but I am concerned. Will this pass soon? Do I need medical attention? I have had botox on 3 occasions and have not had any reaction.

A: Dysport side effects are rare.

Your symptoms do not seem to be related to your treatment other than by coincidence.  Definately call the physician who did your treatment and let them know what is going on. They can give you good advice and ease your concerns.  If you did not see a physician ask for a referral from the person who did your treatment. Side effects from Dysport are extremely rare and I am not aware of any reports similar to yours.  Medical attention is appropriate since this has now been going on for a number of days.
