How Can I Find out if Revision Would Help with Disappointing Result from Full Bodylift?

Five plus months out from a circumferential bodylift I am very upset with loose skin in front and a new spare tire all around my midsection. Please will someone give me an idea of what I can do to find out what remedy might be possible for me. I don't know where to turn. Thanks for any response, professional or personal.

A: Some loose skin after body lift can occur

Especially patients who have lost a lot of weight or whose skin has lost its elasticity (ability to stretch) can develop some looseness of the skin after body lifts or other skin tightening procedures.  That should not be considered a complication, but just a consequence of the quality of the skin, and can occur no matter how tight the surgeon made the closure.

Of course, the best thing to do is to meet with your surgeon and discuss your concerns frankly.  If you are not completely comfortable with the answer, consider asking your surgeon for the names of some other surgeons who may be able to give their input.  If that doesn't work, consider finding another surgeon and getting another opinion.

You may ultimately decide on more surgery to further tighten the skin, which probably will produce additional improvement.

Tummy Tuck vs. Body Lift

I am a 27 year old mother of 3. I'm 5'5" and 133 lbs. Have been planning my mommy makeover for a while now and have even had a couple of consults. I am having a breast lift and implants. I was also planning a tummy tuck and it was suggested to consider a medial thigh lift as this area drives me crazy. I don't have much fat on my body, just lots of stretch marks and some saggy skin. I am not at all excited about the scars in my groin, because I've heard that they always migrate down and show, so bathing suites would be an issue. I was looking at the pics of body lifts and wondering if this would be a better option? How well does the inner thigh area get lifted? Wouldn't mind a little boost in the booty anyway... I don't mind the scar from the body lift that goes all the way around, but I don't want to do this if the thigh results aren't substantial... Any suggestions?

A: I s thigh lift a prudent choice for inner thigh laxity?

Without any photos, some recommendations are of limited value. The scars of the inner thigh for the inner thigh lift are not necessarily narrow or inconspicuous. You need to weight whether the costs, scars, etc. are worth the trade-off versus what your present situation is. A body lift will not address this area.

You would be well served to see one or more additional board certified plastic surgeons in your area to obtain more information and suggestions. Then, you may better be able to make an informed decision.

Lift for Sagging Back Skin?

I am pretty thin, never had any weight problem and never had any plastic surgery on my body. However, I have sagging skin on both sides of my middle back. I can even pull it up to under my arms. It is only skin without fat. Is there a type of lift for that? It really bothers me a lot. Thank you for your help.

A: body lifts, bra fat, back fat

This is a common area for patients to complain about. Exess skin can be removed along the bra line and back so that ii would be covered by most bras and swimwear. The scar is fairly long, but if positioned well, easily covered. Some patients deposit excess fat in this region, but have good quality skin. In that case, liposution alone can prove very beneficial. a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in body contouring will know which procedure is best for you.
