I had SmartLipo on Nov 18. (2 weeks ago today) and was told my my surgeon to wear the garment 24/7 for the first two weeks. I called him this morning and he said now that 2 weeks was up, it was fine to either go without, or switch to another type like spanx. I switched to a spanx-like garment today and have had it on for about 7 hours and it seems as though I am much more swollen now than I was previously. Is this because I switched garments and is this normal?
Your experience is entirely normal and there is no need for concern. Swelling from liposuction doesn't disappear in a few weeks - it can take several months for most of it to dissipate. Furthermore, with increased activity there can be some increased temporary swelling.
I would, therefore, follow the recommendations of your surgeon as they are entirely reasonable and prudent.
I'm 34 years old and have a great body, work out daily, etc. However, I've always had inner thighs that seem to be resistant to exercise. One has a bit of cellulite, which really bothers me. It's enough fat to grab for zeltiq, but I've heard that smartlipo tightens the area too. Which would be better for my situation? Would one session of zeltiq even do much for me? It'd be great if the area was tightened and the cellulite reduced somewhat. Thanks.
My experience with Smartlipo is great. It is exactly like liposuction with some minimally increased skin tightening. CoolSculpting is not as dramatic but has absolutely no risk or downtime and is less costly. For the inner thigh I suggest you try the less invasive CoolSculpting. My patients have been very happy and if tightening is an issue Thermage can non invasively address laxity.
I had Smart Lipo a few days ago on my thigh and lower abdomen area, then had the fat transferred to my breasts. I asked the nurse the day before if the fat was liquified because I had heard that wasn't good for fat transfer, and she assured me it wasn't and that it would be mixed with my plasma and injected. Now I'm reading things that are starting make me doubt my decision. Should I be worried??
It is rare to have a unanimous consensus in plastic surgery - but you just did and the answer, therefore, should be quite clear. If the "fat" that was injected into your breast was the fat that was treated with SmartLipo - you were injected with nonviable, destroyed cells. This in essence means that this was an unnecessary, imprudent and worthless procedure - at best.
Was this performed by a board certified plastic surgeon or someone just attempting to perform cosmetic surgery?
