I had some remaining amount of lymphatic malformation and older scar tisse removed from inside my upper lip. It's been just over 2 months post opp and the numbness and feeling has gotten better, but there is still some residual swelling/inflamation mainly when I move my mouth and eat. Pretty uncomfortable as it happens everytime I eat and drink and takes time to settle back down. Could this be nerve damage? What can I do to treat this? Thank you.
Swelling and effects on movement are extremely common after the scar tissue removal surgery. It can take a year or more for the swelling to maximally subside. For more specific answers to your particular situation, you should contact your surgeon.
I have indented red scar above my lip from a dog bite 18years ago would a filler help with the appearance? I would love to cover it atleast w/makeup but since its indented makeup just makes it stand out more. Please help I need advice asap!!
Since the scar is relatively wide and depresses, a re-excision and meticulous repair (scar revision) by a plastic surgeon should give you the best outcome. Treatment with scar cream and protection with high SPF sunscreen are also important.
I am a general physician and suffered a laceration to my right chin 5 weeks ago. I was struck on chin with a squash racquet. My colleague, an ER physician sutured the laceration but did not use any buried stitches. He tried his best to approximate the wound. I have been using kelocoate twice a day. The laceration is approximately 3/4s of an inch. I am concerned about scar thickness and i am wondering what my options are i.e. early laser, w plasty or geometric closure in 6 months.
From the low resolution photos, the scar does not appear to be hypertrophic but it is a little wide. This is not surprising given that there was only a one layer closure. You may want to consider having it revised it at this point in time as it is already wide. It would be prudent to see a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who could examine this closely and provide you with the various options.
