Does Thermage work for cellulite? I know the older skin tightening Thermage device didn't exactly get rave reviews, so I don't want to get ripped off but I'm thinking about trying Thermage for cellulite. What do you think about it?
Cellulite is tough. Combining Thermage (one treatment) with TriActive (multiple treatments) and topical Glytone Body Lift (caffeine containing cleanser with massage applicator) may have the best shot at improvement. Since it is not curable, designing an ongoing maintenance program can be very gratifying.
I am 44 am just starting to have sagging in the jawline. Is Thermage right for me? My skin is in good condition otherwise, but the little jowls that are forming are a concern to me because they run in my family. I won't mind looking like my grandmother... later, just not at 44. Thank you for your time.
We did a study (submitted for publication, presented at ASDS and American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery) comparing the improvement in the jowl and submental areas of 30 patients. They were divided into 3 groups: Thermage alone, Smartlipo alone, Thermage and Smartlipo. The best results(rated by physicians) were in patients with the combination of Thermage and Smartlipo. The happiest patients were the ones with Thermage alone. Since objective results were very close and patient satisfaction is the most important factor I stopped performing Smartlipo.
Thermage alone does work given appropriate expectations....it is not a facelift but is a viable less invasive alternative for those not wanting surgery.
My doctor recommended Thermage for the loose skin on my neck, jowls and eyelids, but I don't know anyone who has done it and I don't really think it will work. If Thermage is so great how come a lot of people say they don't see results?
Thermage has always been a moderate skin tightening treatment, it has improved significantly since I began using it in 2004, shortly after FDA approval. It is not comparable to plastic surgery yet it is a safe and effective alternative for those not yet ready for the bigger procedures. Some never want surgery and are very content with what Thermage can give them.
Thermage should be repeated every year or two, skin laxity continues and treatment should be repeated (even a facelift will not last forever). Patient satisfaction is related to goals and expectations. Find a candid, honest physician with significant Thermage experience to help you set appropriate expectations and you will be very happy with results.
