i used to have severe acne but for the most part is has decreased but now i have lots of little red dots all over my face that will not fade even after laser treatments. can a tca peel finally allow them to peel off?
I do not think that a TCA peel would make you happy in this situation. There are lasers that can get some red out. I would talk to your dermatologist about this if you are bothered. The best treatment is tincture of time.
I am interested in starting a new chemical peel regimen. I want to get a medium depth chemical peel (TCA 35%) 1-2 times per year for skin maintenance. By skin maintenance, I mean increasing collagen, keeping an even tone and texture, keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay, and keeping an overall "glow." Is this a good regimen? Can a medium depth TCA peel prevent premature skin aging if done consistently? I am a 30 year old female.
I would have to see how much sun damage you have to tell you what kind of peel would be best but 35% TCA sounds a bit aggressive for the usual 30 y/o. You should see your dermatologist and start a regimen to preserve and maintain your skin. This should include use of sunscreen, a retinoid, and possibly a form of topical vitamin C. they will then tell you whether peel is indicated.
Can a 20% TCA peel cause permanent pigmentation discoloration? If it burns will it scar?
All 20% TCA peels burn when applied. This feeling has nothing to do with scarring. These peels rarely cause"scarring" on the face but can cuase problems on the neck. Increased pigmentation can be avoided by choosing the right patient to peel, pre-peel treatments and sun avoidence after your peel. Decreased pigmentation is very uncommon from such a peel.
