I had Laser resurfacing 2 weeks ago and am experiencing what I can only call as painful acne (I have never had any acne issues before) around my mouth and eye areas that do not seem to be getting any better. I also have swelling of lower part of my face and wanted to find out if this in normal or anything I should be concerned with?
It is certainly possible to break out after laser resurfacing. What is most commonly seen is folliculitis associated with greasy emollients that you might be using. You could also have an infection of some type so it would be best to see your doctor and have a look.
I am an athlete and am accustomed to wearing at least 70 spf, sweat proof and water proof, sunscreen when riding my bike for 2- 3 hours. I have also purchased a belaclava (think burka) to cover my face (fabric is spf 25). I recently had laser resurfacing and am trying to determine when I can resume my bike riding. I live in Va, its December, cloudy and overcast frequently. Would a 1.5 hour long ride with these precautions be safe in the morning light?
Get up early in the morning and go for a ride. You will not have much of a problem at that time. Once you have fully healed/peeled/un-crusted you can use a sunscreen. I would do that daily before going even to the mailbox. I prefer a physical block to a chemical(zinc oxide or titanium dioxide). No need for a Burka
I had laser resurfacing 10 days ago and there are still a lot of lines around my chin. Is this normal? Will the skin eventually smooth out around my chin and match the rest of my face? As far as I can tell the surgery had NO effect what so ever on my chin, except that its red. Any advice is appreciated. The rest of my face looks great but doesn't match my chin area. Am I being impatient expecting my chin to look great as the rest of my face at the same time? Disappointed.
What you should expect will in part depend on what kind of laser you used so that information would be helpful. For example: If you had fractional CO2 laser done you should expect to see tightening over the next few months
