Hello, I would like clarity on what a mullerectomy is and whether it lowers or elevates the eyelid. The reason for asking is that based on web searches it appears this procedure can be used to lower the eyelid in cases like Graves', but then it also appears the same procedure can be used to elevate the eyelid to treat ptosis. Are there different types of mullerectomies? Please explain, thanks!
I had a mullerectomy to LOWER a slight eyelid retraction in my left eye, following Graves disease. The left lid has dropped too much and I now have ptosis. The surgeon believes there is levator dehiscence. Which levator advancement method is best for correction? Is it possible to evaluate/adjust the lid height during the procedure with posterior approach levator advancement?
I had a mullerectomy just over 4 weeks ago (pic at 4wk), to address a very mild case of proptosis. My occuloplastic surgeon does not believe the healing is going as expected. The swelling is gone but the eyelid is now droopy and has not risen for 2 weeks. He thinks the levator tendon has moved back from the tarsal plate, and would like to go in at the 6-7wk mark to use 1-2 stitches to bring it closer. Does this sound right? What's my risk of ending up worse off?
I had a mullerectomy for a very mild proptosis, I needed maybe 1mm of correction. Now I am at 10 days post surgery and all swelling has subsided, however my eyelid has completely dropped. It looks like an overcorrection, and I now look worse than I ever did with Graves. I realize now I should never have gotten this surgery, but can't change the past. Aside from speaking to the occuplastic surgeon can you advise on what the next steps should be?
Sept 2021, wanted filler injection for hollow upper eyelid issue. He lied that he didn't provide this procedure and pushed Muellerectomy + fat transpositioning. Caused severe drooping + excess skin fold. 2nd + 3rd surgery to remove more skin + fat transfer. Now blurred vision, overexposed waterline, and eyes don't close completely. Plz any expert explanation to help me understand what he did to cause these problems?
Doctors, I had 5 years ago a ptosis surgery anterior approach and repeated it 3 years ago ( same technique) last year I had mullerectomy technique as I still wasn't happy with the result. 1 month ago I re-did mullerectomy revision, and now the result is to cry. Its way worse then before and I think I'd need a 5th operation. What technique shall be used and will I be able to make it better?
This is more of a technical question but anyway. I consulted with a few doctors who told me I have bilateral ptosis however the thing bothering me the most is the fact both my eyebrows are too high for my liking. I'm aware of the three common techniques used for ptosis correction (frontalis sling, levator advancement, Mullerectomy) and I'd like to know, does the degree that the brow drops depend on which technique is used? Thanks.
It's been over a month and my eyelid crease hasn't come back in my right eye after mullerectomy. It actually created a second crease a few millimeters above. I got it for medical reasons since it was covering my upper vision at night and now I'm worried insurance won't cover a revision since it would be cosmetic. My surgeon said he'll check in a few weeks from now but I think at this point I should look elsewhere. Is it will swollen maybe?
I had a Mullerectomy on my right upper eyelid 8 days ago. Stitches were taken out yesterday at day 7. Doctor said that as swelling subsides and muscle gains strength the lid will lift, however Im noticing a huge improvement in the swelling even in the last 24 hours but as the swelling is going down the lid is not rising. Im including a picture from before the surgery and today at day 8. What are my chances of symmetry as my eye doesnt look to have that much swelling anymore, Im concerned.
Wanting to get upper bleph not sure if it is the right solution for me however my eyelids are uneven possible due to facial nerve injury 10 years ago however I do notice aging through the years I am in my 30s also not sure if I might need brow lift or mullectomy I have consulted w/ Dr's who don't seem concerned with the nerve damage. One Dr suggested removing muscle from the lid area which scares me I healed with Skyenisis post injury I couldnt close eye for 2 wks
