I am a 32 year old female who will be undergoing vertical and horizontal chin augmentation with a sliding genioplasty. If chin augmentation alone is not enough to reduce the structurally-associated premature/pseudo jowls, the surgeon may also perform minor liposuction. What are the chances of permanent nerve damage when this is performed by someone very familiar with facial anatomy, specifically an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with cosmetic specialties? Thank you very much in advance!
In 2002, I asked my Dr. about my one-sided double chin and he referred me to a neurologist. The neurologist said that I likely had nerve damage that was likely from a swollen gland in childhood. Several of my neck muscles are apparently not connected to the nerves and other supporting muscles are doing the work, giving me an asymetrical chin and neckline. Would an electrical-stimulation device would allow me to exercise my atrophied neck muscles? Would liposuction improve my appearance?
Im 10 days post op chin lipo. But my lower jaw is delayed, I can't smile and show my bottom teeth and I talk with a horrible lisp. Im extremely worried, that there is permanent nerve damage. The tip of my tongue is numb. Im a marketing director in my company and talking is what I do everyday. I wore my compression garment for a week 24/7 and this week started only wearing it at home. I started getting lymphatic drainage massages and they seem to be helping with the swelling, but my mouth is still drooping. HELP
Ive been wanting to get chin liposuction for awhile! I thought it would be one incision under the chin and go in through there but someone said that they can also go in from behind the ear under the jaw for better results and if its right for you. Is this safe? Is this a greater chance of hurting any nerves in your face? Or losing sensitivity?
I had Chin Liposuction in August. Fat was removed under my chin, not the jaw line. My face looks larger now as my jowls are still round, while my chin is more defined. My surgeon didn’t touch the jowls because of too small amount of fat and risk of nerve damage. I have found another surgeon who says she can remove the jowl fat with P.A.L. (Power Assisted Liposuction). She said nerve damage is extremely rare; potentially a nerve can get squeezed and temporary affect the face, but since the cannula is round, it is impossible to cut a nerve. Is this true?
I'm curious of the possible or most frequent risks/side effects associated with chin liposuction. I plan on getting it with in a month and very excited but it's with a new plastic surgeon not the one I'm used to so a bit nervous. It could effect my swallowing also if he doesn't do it right, correct?
I had neck/ chin lipo 10 days ago. I am still swollen in my gland area on both sides, which I know is normal. My concern is that my lip/mouth muscles feel damaged. For example, I am not able to rinse mouthwash without it dribbling out; I am not able to bit into things (i.e. a sandwich, or hamburger) normally. The right side of my mouth does not cooperate. I also notice an issue when spitting toothpaste, I'm unable to form my lips as I did pre-surgery. Is this likely related to the swelling?
I had chin and neck liposuction 5 weeks ago and have marginal mandibular nerve damage as well as a lumpy chin. I am very disappointed and upset, mainly with the lower lip slight paralysis. It is better but not yet normal. Should I check with a neurologist about this or wait a little longer? Thank you.
After neck/chin lipo at what point should you become nervous or are certain things red flags? I am only two weeks out so I know it is soon but it's very hard not to worry. My lower right lip is "pulled up" if I smile with lips closed it looks normal but showing teeth, talking, laughing, yawning it's like my lip is "pulled up". Sensation is fine. If somethings only happens to 1 out of 1000 people I'll sadly be that one. Please help me understand what I can expect here & if or when I should worry.
