On 6/29/22, a large silastic polymer chin implant was inserted via an external incision. I observed facial paralysis but assured it would be resolved 3 months post-op. At 6 months, my smile was still terrible but told it was due to due to weak mentalis muscle & kissy face exercises would resolve this. Currently, my smile looks like it did in my 6-month post-op pics. Would removing my implant return my smile to normal or is the continual paralysis due to nerve/muscle damage?
Hello, 10 years ago I had a silicone, chin, implant put in. I never had any issues. I also would get Botox on my chin every three months because I have skin of the orange bumps on my chin. Recently, I started to have twitching or chin spasms. I thought it was because my Botox was wearing off but its been two weeks and my chin is still having spasms and now seems to be puckered. Do you think I may need a chin implant revision as its possible to be pushing on a nerve? What else could it be?
Hello I got chin implant (mouth incision) 2 weeks ago and I know I want it out. (Yes even if it deswells) My surgeon told me that I need to wait till the tissues are fully healed, so 6 months But every surgeon on here says you can get it out at any point and sooner is better for the skin not to stretch. Im getting a second opinion, but my concern is, if I do have the option to take it out now, are there high risks for tissue, nerve or anything ? I dont mind if incision is under the chin
10 weeks post chin implant, insertion via inside of mouth. Still slightly numb on my bottom lip, and 1 side is lazier than the other when talking/smiling. The implant obstructs biting into things, and food gets stuck in the elevated groove created inside my mouth. I feel like its placed high on my chin (we wanted it to improve my profile, not elongate my face) Is it possible my mental nerve is being squished/damaged? What are my options if so? My own doctor has told me to be patient.
I had a silicone chin implant 5 years ago and still have numbness sensation. Is there any type of test to determine if there is nerve damage of if it is just because of the extra large implant pressing on the nerve? I would have it taken out but only if it was for the better.
I had a silastic chin implant placed 9 weeks ago under the chin. The right wing was inserted too high as I can feel it inside my mouth through my gums. I also have numbness on the right side of my bottom lip and chin. I believe it may be compressing my mental nerve. I am scheduled to have the implant removed in 2 weeks. Am I too far out after my surgery to expect any recovery if it is sitting on a nerve? And if my nerves were not compromised, how much time will it take to recover?
The surgeon used screws to anchor them. I keep waiting for the feeling to come back near my mouth. But there are two spots--one on my lower lip and one on my upper--that are still very numb. They tingle often, and sometimes my speech is encumbered by lack of lip dexterity because I'm numb. It's been over a year. Is this normal? Do I have nerve damage? Will it get better? Sometimes it seems to be getting worse! What should I do?
I've had a chin augmentation 10 days ago, and I still can't feel the left side of my lip and chin. I also had liposuction done on the neck, as well as a platysmaplasty. It feels like I am at the dentist with anesthetic. How do I know this is not a pemanent nerve damage? Also, today I started to develop a bit if a rash - feels like an allergic reaction in my cheeks and my right ear is flaking, red and hot. The doctor put me back on antibiotics. What's going on? I am quite nervous.
