I've been diagnosed with acne vulgaris grade 2 by my dermatologist and recommended the above mentioned treatment options. Which one would be a safe and effective option in terms of my skin tone and preventing permanent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on my tan skin? Treatment time is not an issue. I am 23 years old, no significant hormonal imbalances. Acne is affecting forehead, cheeks and chin. Have been on accutane at age 18, however acne relapsed after a few years.
I've heard conflicting things regarding using Hydrocortisone cream after Medium to Deep chemical peels. (I use 1% strength) My Dr said Hydrocortisone right away after chemical peels can help prevent scarring & hyperpigmentation and that you should use it 2-3 x a day immediately after the peel for 3-7 days. But I read that Hydrocortisone actually inhibits proper healing from occuring and that the inflammation after the peel is actually good & needed for maximum results. I'm so confused! Help!
My dermatologist asked me to perform a chemical peel at home. I did it two days ago by following all the instructions given, but I woke up the next day with red and inflamed cheeks :( Is this normal? Any suggestions on what I should do? I asked my derm and she told me to apply desonide lotion 2 times a day for 1 week. But Im afraid the desonide will clog my pores and leave me with more whiteheads than I already have. Thanks in advance!
I had a medium chemical peel done 3 days ago to treat melasma. Everything was pretty fine other than the expected peeling. But then around dinner time during Thanksgiving (Day 2), it began to get inflamed, really red and irritated, and my lotion stung when I put it on seeming to make it worse. It still red and feels tight/ inflamed around my cheeks and chin this morning in blotchy patterns but not quite as hot. Is this just a normal part of the process or should I be worried theres an infection?
is the Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation caused by a Chemical Peel looked upon differently than a Hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure ? Will Lasers Like Q Switched ND YAG 1064nm help reduce Hyperpigmentation caused by Glycolic Acid Peel ?
The other night I believe that I accidentally burned my skin! I was using Epiduo in the morning then I did a AHA peel in the night and the areas affected, where I had a slight break out, were inflamed and looked like they were blistered. After I washed the peel off I was left with really red inflames areas. It's the next day now and I'm left with dark red/brownish spots on my chin! What can I do to lessen the redness and how long will it take to clear up?
