I'm planning a Hetters peel, but have some lingering concerns as I will be moving to Australia and living a very outdoors, sporty lifestyle. I understand I'll need to avoid the sun for several months after the procedure, and I always wear sunblock anyway, but will I always be sensitive to the sun? In the future, I want to be able to swim, cycle and run outdoors, and even early in the morning the UV is likely to be high there. Is the skin more fragile even after 9-12 months?
The surgeon who did my peel allowed it to go so blue he even called people into the room to see! As a result I developed some hyperpigmentation and some atrophic like streaks that are only visible if I pull my skin in certain directions. I have fine, thin skin. I use Obagi Nuderm and its OK, but for increasing creepiness would like to do a hetters in 18 months. Will I still heal OK after this? Also, on my body only I develop hypertrophic scars. Do I sound a potential candidate?
I had a Hetter peel done around my eyes 9 months ago and I am still red plus I have an odd texture to my skin. The doctor has told me I need to give it time to heal. He says this is normal. I do have an odd, rough texture under my eyes and eyelids. At times it seems to calm down a little, but then it just flares up again. I have tried many things....cortisone, chamomile tea, shortening, olive oil, butter. Can someone please help. My doctor has reassured me that no one has ever stayed red.
