Dear Dr's, I'm having my breast implants removed this summer, with no replacement. I see, from this site, that some ladies have been advised to wear a compression garment, others a sports bra, and others neither. I was wondering which is best to wear? Does it depend on the individual and our own surgeon? And if possible, could you tell me why compression is important for healing? Thank you. My implants are the dreaded pips, 290cc, sub-muscular, taking me from an A to a C/D. Had them for 6 years.
I seem to be finding a correlation for recover times and the need for wearing binders and compression bra with women who explant with drains and those who explant without drains. Is time spent in binder and bra different with each case?
It has been 10 weeks since removal of under muscle silicone implants with partial capsule removal. My right breast is larger and tender. I thought seroma but not sure after ultrasound. There is fluiid in the entire breast cavity. I am having aspiration next week. They estimated 92 ml of fluid. How can I prevent this from occurring again? I have worn compression since surgery.
I am 2 weeks post-explantation and am wondering when I can wear an underwire bra. I am currently wearing a compression garment (to prevent seroma) at night and sports bra during the day. When can I stop wearing the compression garment and start wearing normal bras? Is the concern that the underwire will rub on the scars (which is covered by tape) and hence worsten the scarring?
Why is it absolutely necessary to wear the sports bra compression after breast explant surgery. I had drains for 1 week, and my incisions are healing fine. But Im still concave and squished and wearing this compression seems to make it worse. Thank you
I recently had one implant deflated in-office after the other ruptured. I plan to have saline implant removal surgery within the next year. (I am choosing to wait to see how much my skin, connective tissue, and glands recover to make a more informed decision about whether to have mastopexy at the same time.) My surgeon gave me no instructions regarding what type of bra to wear. Since I must purchase new ones now, I want to make the best choice.
I'm worried about going back to work completely flat as a pancake because in have to wear a really tight ace bandage like bra or wrap. Can you help me understand the after care. When I would be able to wear a normal wireless padded bra post surgery? Thanks.
