Hi Real Self Doctors, I met a patient who has the same surgery date as me and they mentioned being HIV positive- though I know there is probably good reason not to worry about cross contamination in surgery (otherwise I don't think the surgery center would've accepted the patient) it does make me feel a bit anxious. What special protocols do surgeons put in place to keep patient safety in a case like this one?
I would like to keep it confidential so I do not want to tell my surgeon if I dont have to. Can it also effect my pre-op labs? Can a surgeon refuse to do my surgery because of this? Can I continue to take medication for HSV before , during and after my procedure?
I'm 21 and I am hiv-positive and I want to get the Brazilian butt lift I want to know if I am eligible I ask my doctor and they said I am undetectable and healthy I asked a few plastic surgeons and they turn me down is there a doctor that is Affordable and accepts that I would like to know
