US Women 2X Interested in Plastic Surgery than in Britain

A British retailer released results from a poll of 3,000 women between the ages of 40 and 60 and found that one in three women over 40 is thinking about plastic surgery. The survey also found that 52 is considered the ideal age for getting work done.
While the UK press and bloggers expressed awe at this stat, the interest in cosmetic change appears to be much higher in the U.S. -- perhaps twice as great.
A RealSelf and Harris Interactive Poll conducted this past year found that 82% of U.S. women 35-44 and 80% of 45-54 would have cosmetic work of money wasn’t an issue. The Harris-RealSelf survey also found:
- tummy tucks are most popular among women aged 35-44 – almost half (46 percent) would choose to tone their midsection if money wasn’t an issue, compared to 34 percent of women 18-34
- More than one-third (34%) of women aged 35-44 would undergo a breast lift, and 28 percent would opt for liposuction
These 3 procedures are most often associated with “Mommy Makeovers.”

It does seem like U.S. citizens are more obsessed with physical perfection, yes?
