Trend watch: day spa tooth whitening

Tom on Aug 7, 2007

Your favorite day spa use to be a place to get the beauty basics: a facial, manicure, or eye brow shaping.

That narrow concept of a day spa is gone.  With the emergence of hybrid doctor-spa formats (medispas) and the broad availability of cosmetic treatments like Restylane or Botox, the day spa is often a one-stop beauty destination.  Name a spa today that doesn't have a spa menu.

A new service you can expect to see at the day spa is tooth whitening. I observed at a beauty conference several vendors offering professional-strength teeth whitening systems that can be added to the spa repertoire of beauty services.

This invasion into the cosmetic dentist's turf is best described in the BEYOND Whitespa description I caught with a company rep on video.
